Symposium of the Electrophysiology Professional Interest Area (E-PIA) and Neuromodulatory Subcortical Systems PIA
EEG and neuroimaging methods to probe ascending neuromodulatory systems in Alzheimer's disease
Chairs:
Stefan Teipel, University of Rostock, Germany
Claudio Babiloni, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy
The symposium will revise and discuss methods at the intersection between electrophysiology and functional imaging that are widely used in neuropsychiatric research and bear major potential also in the Alzheimer’s field. These methods are highly promising but still little used in Alzheimer’s research so that we want to foster exchange and inspiration across the disciplines.
Speakers:
Lea Grinberg, MD, PhD; University of California, San Francisco, USA
Introduction to neuromodulatory subcortical systems
Christoph Mulert, MD; University Medicine Gießen, Germany
Simultaneous acquisition of EEG/fMRI as a powerful approach to probe dysfunction of ascending neuromodulatory systems in neuropsychiatric diseases
Claudio Babiloni, PhD; Sapienza University of Rome, Italy
EEG measures probing the dysfunction of cholinergic, dopaminergic, and serotoninergic neuromodulatory systems in humans
